Dear Praying Friends,

An abundance of “end times” scenarios, observations, and guesstimates about current events are being circulated because of the COVID-19 crisis.  Earthquakes have occurred and extreme weather in various places causing concern and highly imaginative prophesying. Many people, Christians and non-Christians have plugged in their two cents worth as they try to make sense of this ‘new reality’.  One comment that I read on social media pierced most pointedly into my own heart, “I’m ready for Jesus to come back, but I fear for my loved ones.”

Yes, we Christians should be ready for Christ’s return, but there are millions and billions of people who are not ready — which actually describes our job as we ‘occupy until He comes back’ bringing His message of grace.

Tragically, most people do not seem to care about their eternity—they plan for tomorrow, for next week and next year—even for their retirement, but they never plan for their eternity.  There are also those in false religions who believe in their own contrived religious beliefs about Jesus’ return.  But they are far removed from the truths that Jesus revealed in His Word.

There are those who predict dates for His return—and those we particularly ignore.  Setting dates is useless, a waste of time, and only proves the person has not listened to what Jesus said about it:

Matthew 24:42-44— "Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on    what day your Lord will come. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So, you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.

Jesus will return when He is not expected.  And the world without Jesus never expects Him.  Our ministry is focused on telling the Mormon Fundamentalist world all about the real Biblical Jesus Christ—because we are ready for Him, but they are not.  We could not do this without your faithful support.

And so, we thank you always for your support of this ministry!

POLYGAMY IN THE NEWS

Little news has been reported from within polygamy groups because of the COVID 19 seclusion requirements. However, we do have a couple of newsworthy items:

Bigamy is now okay in Utah! On May 13, 2020, Utah officially became the first state to decriminalize polygamy.  They claim it will embolden the abused to seek help—but we doubt we will see any increase in reporting abuse.  Abused polygamists are afraid of their leaders and their doctrines more than they are afraid of the law.

A news article was published on KSL News reporting the difficulties the FLDS polygamists are facing in their Hildale, Utah community. It focuses mostly on education, or lack of it, that has plagued the FLDS since Warren Jeffs became their leader.  They were finally getting their children back into public education, but then the COVID 19 shelter-in-place kept them from going to school.  Also, their schools lack computers and responsible, reliable internet service. If very many people are on the internet at the same time, it bogs down.

Since Warren Jeffs was thrown in prison for life, many faithful families have moved away from the FLDS community, but it has also left most of the remaining families in intensified poverty—even before the shut down of schools and businesses.
We quote from the KSL News article:

“You’ve gone from a very low income to zero income,” said Steven Dunham, director of communications for the Washington County School District. “When you drive through those streets of Hildale, it’s very clear that this is a community that is struggling.” https://ksltv.com/437048/polygamous-utah-town-struggling/

SUGGESTED READING:

It is a completely different world for us who were born and raised in Mormon Fundamentalism. We were brainwashed from the cradle to believe that those not in the group were our enemies, not to be trusted. To help understand the brainwashing and bondage polygamists face, we have suggested reading material which may give you a better understanding of the dark world of Mormon polygamy.

This month our featured book is entitled. Lost Boy, the story of Brent W. Jeffs’ experience born and raised in the FLDS polygamy group and the horrific abuse he suffered under Warren Jeffs.

Brent Jeffs was Warren Jeffs nephew and was of course, was part of the prominent family of their church.

We quote from the inside flap: “Brent could have grown up to have multiple wives of his own and significant power in the ten-thousand-strong community.  But he knew that behind the group’s pious public image-women in chaste dresses carrying babies on their hips-lay a much darker reality.  So, he walked away and was the first to file a sexual-abuse lawsuit against his uncle.”

From the back cover: “Now I was beginning to think that the abuse that had driven my oldest brother to suicide was something I’d have to confront as well. I started thinking back to what had happened when I had left the church—and how I had gotten to the point that I had to leave. I thought of my life as a ‘lost boy.’ And, as I sifted through my memories, my life came to me in bits and pieces, often disconnected, just like my dreams. Even normal memory has gaps, but traumatic memory is even more discontinuous.  This is my story, which put me back together.”

We cannot read personal experiences like this without concluding that polygamy groups wield ungodly powers over members, and they use and abuse them at will.

We quote from page 61 describing Jeffs speaking: “Warren’s speaking voice also had a peculiar hypnotic quality. If you did not know him like I did, it sounded calming, almost narcotic. It was hard to remember the specifics of what he said. He spoke relatively slowly, with long pauses.”

Lost Boy is a very disturbing book, it relates graphic details of Jeffs' sexual abuse of young boys and the subsequent tragedy this abuse brought into their lives.

MORMON POLYGAMY HISTORY

Excerpted and condensed from Tell It All, by Ann Eliza Young

In the happy homes which I have visited since I broke the chains that bound me, and came forth a free woman, unshackled in thought and untrammeled in action, although a wanderer on the face of the earth, with no abiding-place where to stay my weary feet, I have been compelled to contrast the difference between childhood in a monogamic country and in a polygamous one; and when I have seen the mother's face grow almost divine in its radiant content as she smiled down into the face of the little one sheltered so closely in her heart, I have felt my heart throb and ache with jealous anguish for the little ones in Utah, and above all for their weary-hearted mothers, to whom maternity brings no such joy, and added love, and tender care.

Misery came to her mother through Plural Marriage - that misery came to her, as it came to all the women then, under the guise of religion — something that must be endured ''for Christ's sake." And as her religion had brought her nothing but persecution and sacrifice, she submitted to this new trial as to everything that had preceded it, and received polygamy as a cross laid upon her, but which strength would be given her to bear.

Now, her religion told her that she was selfish and wicked to try and keep this home and husband. The one must be broken and desolated, the other shared with some one else. "The Lord commanded it." What a blasphemy and satire on Him who is the God of Love that He should make His children unhappy, and wreck all hopes of peace and content, for His glory! It appears this one act of Smith's alone should have opened the eyes of this deluded people, and shown them that their false Prophet was not taught of God, as he pretended, and they so fondly believed, but that he was impelled by the demons of covetousness and lust. But their eyes were blinded, and they could not see; their reason was enthralled, and they did not know it was bound; their wills were obedient to his, and he held them soul and body, and played with them as though they were so many puppets, helpless and lifeless out of his hands.

Being accounted among the specially "faithful," my parents were among the first to whom polygamy was taught by Joseph Smith himself, and my father was commanded by him to "live up to his privileges," and to take another wife.

FROM OUR MAILBOX:

“It’s hard for anyone to imagine the pain and suffering going on in polygamy, I was born and raised in Mormonism and left the church many yrs ago because of what our early prophet Joseph Smith started in the early 1800's, LDS folks talk very little about polygamy and I believe these stories are the reason why. They are so blind. Most of my family are LDS and would be pretty upset if I posted this, but these stories need to get out. Thanks for what you are doing to help these women and children get out of polygamy. A.S.

Thank you for your program. Very informative! I am a Christian. I am not Mormon and have no personal experience with polygamy, but I have seen Sister Wives. The Browns have worked pretty hard to sell their "lifestyle" as something it isn't. Although the stories of you and your guests are heartbreaking, you are speaking the truth and it's important you do. Especially with programs like Sister Wives. I am glad there is help available for those trying to leave. I pray they all do and that they find the one true God. I always really appreciate Doris's passion for Christ and sharing the gospel. Blessings.  B.T.

PRAYER REQUESTS:

  • We are still looking for a used automobile for an older teen-age girl to help with the errands of the ex-polygamous family.

  • Pray for “KH” who is losing hope in her life outside of polygamy but rejects God and all she ‘thinks’ He stands for.

  • Pray for BK who also has left polygamy, she has received Jesus, but is still haunted by decades of Mormon Fundamentalist indoctrination.
